Thailand Airport Tax Increase

The Airport Authority of Thailand has increased passenger service charge or airport tax for state own airports from 01 January 2007 onwards. The new passenger service charges are 700 Thai Baht for international sectors and 100 Thai Baht for domestic sectors with exception for airport in Koh Samui, Trat, and Sukhothai. Charges at the three mentioned airports differ from other airports as they are operated by private enterprise. Kindly see the table below for more details.

The passenger service charges are levied on all passengers departing from all airports in Thailand.  The charge will be collected at point of sales (incorporated into airfare) for tickets issued on/after 01 November 2006 for travel on/after 01 February 2007 with exemptions for the followings:

• Domestic to domestic transfer within 6 hours except for return segment to point of origin counts as  separated departure
• International to domestic or domestic to international transit/transfer within 6 hours (not leaving from the transit area) when ticketed on the same ticket
• Infants under 2 years of age   
• Airline crew on duty
